Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis

What is HTMA?

A simple hair sample that gives us a window into your metabolism, stress levels, and energy system so we can build a nutrition plan that actually fits your body.

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis Is...

A hair trace mineral analysis, using about a teaspoon of hair sampled from the base of the head, that shows mineral deposition in the cells and interstitial spaces of the hair over a 2 to 3 month period.

Representative of the minerals and heavy metals in the hair, but since hair is a tissue, that information can be inferred for the rest of the body.

A screening test, not a diagnostic test.

Representative of an average rate of mineral and heavy metal accumulation in your hair sample over the previous 8 to 12 weeks.

Why Hair?

Blood works hard to stay in homeostasis, which makes it a poor place to detect trace minerals and chronic toxin exposure. Hair, on the other hand, gives us a stable, easy-to-collect record of what's really happening inside your cells.

  • Cells are the major site of metabolic activity
  • Mineral levels in the hair are about 10x that of the blood
  • Simple sampling and non-invasive
  • Stable biopsy material, requires no special handling
  • Cost effective, accurate, and reliable

What You Can Learn

  • Metabolic rate
  • Stage of stress and stress levels
  • Immune system activity
  • Adrenal and thyroid glandular activity
  • Carbohydrate tolerance
  • Energy levels
  • Whether you're eating enough protein or too many carbs
  • Tendencies for 30+ illnesses, often before they manifest
  • Personality tendencies

What You Cannot Learn

  • The total body load of any single mineral
  • The diagnosis of any disease or illness
  • A "prescription" for specific mineral supplements

HTMA is a screening tool, not a diagnostic test. It's most powerful as one piece of a bigger picture of your health.

Factors That Affect Mineral Readings
